Principal, Dr. Josh Cornett
Principal, Dr. Josh Cornett
Dr. Cornett began serving Staunton River High School as an assistant principal in July 2010. He has served as principal since February 2015. He began his teaching career in 2003 at Jefferson Forest High School as an Algebra teacher. He was named the 2008 Jefferson Forest High School Teacher of the Year. He also served as an assistant baseball coach before serving as an assistant principal at JFHS in 2009.
Dr. Cornett earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mathematics from Bluefield College in 2003 and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lynchburg College in 2007. He completed the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Doctoral Program at Virginia Tech in 2015.
Dr. Cornett is from Grayson County, Virginia, and is a graduate of Grayson County High School. He currently resides with his wife, Heather, and sons, Porter and Penn, in Bedford County.
