The following link will provide you with the letter from Dr. Woodford, BCPS Chief Learning Officer: Changes to School Calendar Letter
The letter explains changes to the 2020-2021 School Calendar as listed below.
- All BCPS schools will be closed on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, for a Remote Learning Day.
- Wednesday, March 10, 2021, will remain an Instructional Collaboration Day as previously planned and will be closed for all students.
- Wednesday, March 17, 2021, will now be a "B GROUP" Flex Day. The rotation will continue from that date as usual. The entire Flex Day rotation has been updated on the SRHS Website Calendar.
- Wednesday, April 28, 2021, will now be open for in person learning and will not be a Instructional Collaboration Day as previously planned. It will now be an "A Group" Flex Day.
STOPit Solutions: Next week, BCPS high schools will be introducing the STOPit app to the school community. This phone app and website provides an anonymous way to report dangerous situations to school staff. The following link provides details provided by SRHS principal, Dr. Cornett: STOPit Solutions SRHS Information
PIXELLOT: Unfortunately, NFHS' Pixelot Athletic Streaming Service is not operational at this time and is scheduled to be installed as soon as possible. It looks as if the service will not be available for the first home volleyball game on Thursday, March 4, 2021, or for the first home football game on Friday, March 5, 2021. Because of Pixelot not being available at this time, the games will be streamed by the SRHS Athletic Department at the following link on the SRHS Athletics YouTube Channel: SRHS Athletics
We are hopeful that Pixelot will be fully operational in near future.
Staunton River Community: If you are between the ages of 18-27 and previously a teen in foster care, you may be eligible for financial support through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021. Visit FosterMyFuture.com (or scan the QR code below) to learn more about the program or text FosterMyFuture to (833) 467-0549 or to be contacted by a Virginia Department of Social Services staff member with more information. STANDARDS OF LEARNING INFORMATION
The Virginia Department of Education has issued an emergency guideline for SOL testing for this Fall Semester. Students who do not pass their End o Course SOL for any Fall Semester course may still earn a Locally-Awarded Verified Credit by: Scoring between 350-399, and passing the associated class this fall semester
Because of this guideline, we will not be scheduling any expedited retakes for Fall Semester SOLs. However, if your student meets the expedited retake qualifications by scoring between 375-399 (or 350-399 for a student with an IEP) and passes the associated course, you may request an expedited retake for your student by contacting Ms. Richards at sunshine.richards@bedford.k12.va.us.
