Welcome to Staunton River High School

Staunton River exists to provide a foundation that will allow our students the best opportunity for a lifetime of success.

Staunton River High School will challenge all students with a rigorous and diverse academic program to exceed their own expectations in a safe environment that fosters respect, self-discipline, tolerance, and social development. Our school will be the anchor for our community, providing programs that build unity, involvement, and pride.

We are “Committed to Excellence”, and we work hard to make this website a primary source for timely information for all users, and a main gateway for improved communication between parents, teachers, students and other members of our community.

Policy JCD - School Zone Transfers
Bedford County School Board Policy JCD School Zone Transfers establishes guidelines for students to attend schools outside of their attendance zones. The policy sets a timeline for requesting permission to attend a school outside of the school zone in which a student resides. The window is from March 1 until July 1 immediately preceding the school year for which the zone transfer is requested.  Parents, who reside in Bedford County and are not school employees, can request zone transfers by completing the request form, which is located on our website: Transfer Form  and submitting the form electronically, by mail, or by fax.

Bedford County Public School employees requesting school zone transfers for their children should use a separate form that is also located on our website:

     Cold Weather Information - Warning

With the potential for cold weather these coming days, we want to remind you of the risks of frostbite and hypothermia. Hypothermia occurs when your body loses heat faster than it can be produced. Frostbite is an injury to the body caused by freezing.  Please remember to keep exposed skin covered while outside. Wear a hat, gloves, and scarf. Dressing in layers will help protect you from hypothermia without causing you to become overheated.  If you feel you or someone else may be suffering from frostbite or hypothermia, please seek medical attention immediately. Taking preventative action will be your best defense.

Click It or Ticket"CLICK IT OR TICKET!”

Wearing seat belts is not only the law, but it saves lives! Did you know that the National Safety Council reports that more than 75,000 lives were saved over four years by simply clicking a seat belt?

For the remainder of the year, seat belt checks will be conducted by state and local police officers near our school.

Take a moment to “Click it!” It may save you a ticket, and, more importantly, it may save your life!
