The primary mission of Staunton River High School is to assist all students in acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to become productive, well-rounded citizens.


We are “Committed to Excellence”, and we work hard to make the site a primary source for timely information for all users, and a main gateway for improved communication between parents, teachers, students and other members of our community.

Policy JFCH-- Tobacco-Free School for Students & Visitors:
On December 8, 2011, the Bedford County School Board updated Policy KGC, Tobacco Use on School Premises. The newly updated Tobacco Use on School Premises policy now prohibits adult visitors from using tobacco products on school property. We thank parents, community members, and all visitors for their observance of this policy as they attend school activities.

Good morning. Today is Wednesday, February 22, 2012, and these are your announcements.

 

Prom tickets will go on sale today in the cafeteria. The cost is $40 per ticket.

 

Softball practice today: 9th graders will report to the field at 3:45. Bring indoor gear.

 

Boys soccer is still looking for a few guys interested in playing soccer this spring. If you're interested tryouts are all this week at the middle school. 

 

Girls soccer tryouts are behind the middle school after school. Students must have a VHSL physical on file or bring it to practice in order to tryout.

 

The 21st Century winter session is about to come to an end and it's time to register for spring sessions!  Your homeroom teacher has all the information you need, so ask him or her for the forms.  We have a variety of classes to offer.  There's something for everybody!  The deadline for turning in registration forms has been moved to Tuesday, February 28. 

 

 

Outdoor track will begin practice on Monday, March 5th at the high school track. You must have a physical on file to practice.

 

 All members of the Indoor track team who have finished their season need to see Coach Curcio.

 

Faculty and staff: Coach Curcio is still in need of 3-4 people to help with the state meet this Saturday at Liberty University.

 

Barnes & Noble is sponsoring the My Favorite Teacher program.  The winning teachers and students will be honored at a special ceremony at Barnes & Noble in April.  The rules are available in the library. Entries for My Favorite Teacher are due to the library by Tuesday, February 28.

 

The Smith Mountain FFA chapter of Staunton River High School brings you some Agriculture facts during National FFA Week.  Today’s facts are: Turkeys originated in North and Central America, and evidence indicates they have been around for more than 10 million years.  Fact 2: Agriculture employs more than 24 million American workers---that’s 17% of the total US work force!

Join the FFA in celebrating FFA week tomorrow by participating in Dress Like a Farmer Day!

 

 

The Community Fitness Center is now open to both students and adults from 4:00 to 6:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  Students may ride the 21st Century bus at 5:00 on Mondays and Thursdays or the school's activity bus at 6:30 on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Those who ride the school's activity bus on Mondays and Tuesdays must wait in the supervised area from 6:00 to 6:30.  Mr. Sheldrake will inform students of the location of the supervised area each day.

 

 

Hey Staunton River! Could you open your heart and share some luck with the Bedford Animal Shelters? From Valentine’s Day to St. Patrick’s Day the Community Connection Club will be collecting your donations in room 204. Bring canned or dry food; any bowls, leashes, collars or other pet items.
