School Nutrition Letter - Cutoff for Charging Meals
Toward the end of each school year the School Nutrition Program establishes a cut off date for meal charges in the school cafeteria. This assists the School Nutrition Program with collecting any outstanding charges that have not been paid. This year the last day students will be allowed to charge school meals is Friday, May 17, 2013.

     Textbook Adoption
We are seeking public input from community members regarding the recommendations for the adoption of textbooks and other instructional materials for English and science for 2013-14 and beyond. The School Board will be considering approval of these materials at an upcoming meeting. For a summary of the recommended materials, click here.

Policy JCD - School Zone Transfers

Bedford County School Board Policy JDC School Zone Transfers establishes guidelines for students to attend schools outside of their attendance zones.  The window is from March 1 until July 1 immediately preceding the school year for which the zone transfer is requested.  Based on past board directive, SRHS is closed to zone transfers for 2013-2014

Parents, who reside in Bedford County and are not BCPS employees can request zone transfers by completing the request form located on BCPS website at http://tinyurl.com/acrcgex and submitting the form electronically, by mail or by fax.  If approved for a school zone transfer, the student is allowed to complete the sequence of grades at your school.  They do not have to re-apply annually.

The policy was revised on February 7,  2012.  To view the entire policy, please go to: http://www.boarddocs.com/vsba/bcsbva/Board.nsf/Public#  Click on the Policy tab and search for JCD in the search box.

BCPS employees requesting school zone transfers for their children use the form for employees that is located on the BCPS  website at http://tinyurl.com/cvsk3xt.   All employee zone transfer requests are sent to the Assessment and Planning office by the employee (see bottom of form for instructions).  If approved for a school zone transfer, the student is allowed to complete the sequence of grades at your school.  They do not have to re-apply annually.

Policy JFCH-- Tobacco-Free School for Students & Visitors

On December 8, 2011, the Bedford County School Board updated Policy KGC, Tobacco Use on School Premises. The newly updated Tobacco Use on School Premises policy now prohibits adult visitors from using tobacco products on school property. We thank parents, community members, and all visitors for their observance of this policy as they attend school activities.
