SCHOOL HISTORY
Staunton River High School opened in the Fall of 1963. It is located in southern Bedford County, Virginia. The school finished renovation on its original gymnasium building and construction of the new gymnasium, and has a total of four buildings that house academic classrooms. It also has a main office, cafeteria, Agricultural and Technology Education facilities, auxiliary gymnasium, auditorium, and library buildings. Staunton River's mascot is the Golden Eagle. Staunton River serves an area of Bedford County that reaches from Stewartsville to Thaxton to Smith Mountain Lake to Bedford.
