NASA Opportunity for Juniors
There is a November 4th deadline.
We would really appreciate your help in spreading the word to your high school juniors about this excellent NASA opportunity that will allow them to chart a course for Mars, interact with scientists and engineers and earn four college credits.
Please direct students or other faculty to the website for program information and application, vasts.spacegrant.org. The deadline for students to apply is November 4, 2011.
The program is a partnership between the Virginia Space Grant Consortium, NASA Aerospace Scholars program, NASA Langley Research Center, with the assistance from the Virginia Department of Education and industry partners.

International Space Olympics
The Virginia Department of Education has announced an opportunity for as many as ten (10) Virginia public school students who will be juniors or seniors during the 2011-2012 school year to participate in the International Space Olympics in the Moscow Region of Russia. The competition will be held during October 2011, and students who are selected will receive a travel scholarship for $2,800 that will cover all major costs of participation in the Space Olympics. Local Advisory Committee
Bedford County Public Schools operates a Local Advisory Committee for Gifted Education. A parent representative from each school in the county attends meetings of the Local Advisory Committee (four times each school year).
