Dr. Michelle Morgan began serving as the principal of Staunton River High School in July 2010. She began her career with Bedford County Public Schools in 2005, serving as an assistant principal for one year and the principal of Forest Middle School from 2006 until 2010. Dr. Morgan began her teaching career in 1993 with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools. She was an English teacher, a reading specialist, and an assistant principal at both the middle and high school levels.
Dr. Morgan is an active member of the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals (VASSP) and serves as the Region V board director of the VASSP. Additionally, Dr. Morgan has taught courses at the college level including Reading Strategies in Secondary Classrooms at Nova Southeastern University in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Morgan earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in English Education from Florida International University and Master of Education in Reading from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Morgan completed the licensure program in Educational Leadership at Florida International University in 1999. Dr. Morgan is a recent graduate of the Doctor of Education program at Virginia Tech.
Dr. Morgan is from Bedford County, Virginia, and a graduate of Staunton River High School. She currently resides in Roanoke County, Virginia.
