The 21st Century Program also offers various opportunities for students to figure out what they may enjoy going into as a career. These opportunities will typically be in the form of "day camps" where we will devote a Saturday to a proposed career, helping you gain hands on experience in a field that interests you. Some career camps will be during breaks, and during those, transportation to and from the school will be provided. 

The Class of 2017 was recently surveyed for potential career interests, and the top 16 results will make themselves available as evening/day camps. To enroll, simply obtain a sign up form with Mrs. Howes in Building 3. All activities are free of charge.

Upcoming Events Available for Sign Up

• Healthcare Interest Trip - Friday/Saturday, November 11th and 12th
• Friday, November 11^th, 4-5 pm. A special health career presentation will take place in the Library from one of the leading specialists at Centra Health. Parents/guardians are welcome. Refreshments to be provided.

•  Saturday, November 12th, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Students will begin the morning obtaining or updating their CPR/First Aid Certifications. We will be travelling to Centra Health where our hosts have planned a tour of their facilities and hands on activities, as well as a question and answer session, and we will return to SRHS at 4:00 pm. Be aware that students should pack their own lunch or bring money for a stop off before we head to Centra.

• Athletic Training/Sports Medicine 

• Friday, February 17th, 3:45 pm - 10:00 pm. After school, students will travel to Liberty University via bus to shadow athletic trainers and coaches of the Division 1 Hockey team as they prepare for that night's game. Hockey coach Kirk Handy was thrilled to be able to host Staunton River High School on this night, as it is their annual teddy bear charity toss. Students should arrange transportation home from Staunton River at 10pm.
